I need to apply for the US passport next week and wondering if I could fill it out using Adobe Professional (Writer). Because on the form it states "PRINT IN BLUE OR BLACK INK". I always use the Adobe Pro software for filing out the forms. Used it for N400 and N600 and other immigration forms, etc. Great software for completing these complicated and lengthy forms. Plz let me know if anybody DID use it or are we required to fill it out manually (Print)? Thanks.

yes i did. i could just fill the actual form but i was just lazy.

The notation of "PRINT IN BLUE OR BLACK INK" on the Application for Passport is there for a long time when Adobe was not even invented. US govt. is so bureacratic that they don't even have a time to update this Form.

Since you are going to use Professional version of Adobe for fill in up this Application, then you are allowed to save the data. Otherwise, other versions of Adobe won't allow you to save it, and then you would need to print after filling up.

Nevertheless, you need to make sure that the application form on online is latest one with correct fee because it has come to my attention that State Dept. has recently changed the Application Form with new fee for it.

Good Luck.
