Hello,

I know that this is not the right-forum to post this question. Sorry in advance.

But i am unable to find any active-forum similar to this. Thought i shall query youall for your suggestions.

My question is, did anyone go for a euro-tour having GC(plastic card).

1) would like to know the VISA formalaties at SWISS, ITALY FRANCE & ENGLAND

2) Are there any active-forums discussing this, if yes , please copy the URL for reference.

3) other useful information regarding the EURO-trip [[ hotels, rail-passes,chunnel-train(london to other european countries), travel-agents, etc]]

Once again my apologize to this forum from deviating myself by not-asking an immi-question.

Thanks,
localMadras

Re: Re: Deviating from immi-questions

Are you sure about Switzerland not needing a visa for US PRs ? I needed one in 1999 even just for a transit visa (approx 8 hours). If this rule has changed in the recent past, then I am not aware.

JoeF is right in that France and Italy are part of the Schengen countries. Here is a list of 15 countries as part of that.

"The 15 Schengen countries are: Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Iceland, Italy, Greece, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Norway, Portugal, Spain and Sweden. All these countries except Norway and Iceland are European Union members. "

More info on Schengen at http://www.eurovisa.info/SchengenCountries.htm

Hope that helps.

Switzerland doesn't require a visa for US PRs with the actual card, I think France and Italy are both members of the Schengen treaty (I haven't verified that), so one visa works for both countries.

Travel to/from London is probably cheaper by plane. Airlines like Ryan Air offer really cheap flights (from secondary airports, though, e.g., Stansted in GB).

Maybe a visa is wavered for US PRs only if PRs travel
to Switzerland from USA. If you go to Switzerland from
other countries, you need a visa. In 1999, did you go
to Switzerland from USA or somewhere else?

Re: Deviating from immi-questions

Thanks for the visa informatino Joe , Pilot
& american. Good to know thre are no visa-hassles for Swiss.

Planning to go to italy, france. Seems like i should be applying 'schengen' visa at italian-consulate, if italy was my POE. Is that right ? anyone with a visa experience with Italian-consulate ?

How safe is it to go to italy, france or other euro countries around May2003 (us-iraqi war in my mind)

do you all know if there any forums related to travel (similar to this) where i can post further questions, if not, if you all encourage posting travel-Q's i shall post my queries here ?

Thanks once again.
