Details on back of photograph

The guidelines for the N400 application says to write lightly in pencil the name and A# at the back of the photographs. Has anybody had trouble doing this since the current glossy pictures make it impossible to write anything in pencil? I am thinking of either writing it using a marker pen or pasting the photgraph to a white paper, cut it into a 2"X2" size and then write the details on the back. Any suggestions?

Thanks!!

I didn't write anything on the pictures until the interview, at which point the IO "scrubbed" a small section of the (front) with a mild abrasive and I printed my full name.

Try using No. 2 HB pencil on back of the photographs. If it does not work for you, how about using a label maker to print your name and A # and affixing that! My 2 cents

Bingo! I always had that question

I almost wet my pants many times before I could get our A numbers written on the pictures.

I ended up pasting a thin, white sheet at the back of the photo, cut it to 2" by 2" and then wrote the name and A# on the pasted back of the paper. They say not to mount the photos but this is the best I could have done without writing it with a marker pen...hope they dont catch the fact that I pasted the photo on the paper. It is almost not discernible if you dont know about it!

How easy it would be if they say write it in ink as long as one makes sure the ink does not bleed. I called up the customer service no. and the rep mentioned that's the reason they ask for it in pencil - but obviously she did not have any suggestions as to what can be done if the pencil writing is not legibile on the photo.

Don't sweat it guys! Some people forget to even include the photos in their application, and later submit them during interview. I think the writing on the back is just so the photos don't get lost or mis-assigned. Either way, you'll be writing stuff on the front of the photo during interview, and the IO could always ask for new ones if soemthing is wrong.
