MY I-485 was filed on 1st August 2001. So far I have not received neither any queries nor approval.

I am living in Long Island NewYork. If any body knows how to approach senator in this area, who is responsive, Please provide me the details.

Did you get your FP done yet..?

Did you get your FP done yet..?

did you get your EAD / AP approved if you applied for them initially
maybe that would be a good place to start..

any way which part of LI are you...?
I am also from Long Island..

Hi Prasad,

Iam in the same boat as you are. Neither I didnt hear any thing from INS nor my case is not transferred to Local INS. so I contacted local senator in Virginia for his help on Jan-22. Just search on www.Google.com for local Senator in your area.

i talked his Senator assitant personally and I explained my situtation. She asked me to fax her in writing and details about my case..like receipt date and Notice date ete.

Here is content of my fax message

"Dear Sir,
I applied for Adjustment of Status to Permanent Residence (I-485 employment based) on August 09,2001. It has been 18 months since my application was filed at Vermont Processing Center. I spoke with the Vermont INS Center couple of times, whenever I call them, they tell me to call after 2 months. Last time when I spoke with them they said my case was with an officer since November 6,2002. Since then I didn’t hear any thing from them. Processing Times published by INS Vermont show that they are processing 10/15/01 which is more than two (2) months past my application date. I would appreciate if Senator George Allen can help expedite the process and push for a decision on my case"

Yesterday senator assistant called me, they got a mail from Vermont..they will make decision on my case in 30 days...

I think you better contact local senator..so they will try push on your case....

Thanks,
raj

Raj!

Sorry. I am seeing your reply after long time. Thanks for the info.

I also sent the info. to the senator of my Area Hillary Clinton. But I could not personally talk with their secretary.

From what I am hearing from you, the success rate seems to be higher for people who approach senators.

prasad:

why dont you try to contact senator office assistant under INS Department. Yes my approval came with in 2 weeks after I contacted my local senator in Virginia. I strongly suggest you contact your local senator.

Thanks,
raj

Raj,

I have been trying to talk to them. But all the time I only reach their voice mail. If I leave voice mail, they don't return the call.

I don't know what else to do. I have sent necessary forms and details to Long Island Senator's office. When I was able to talk to somebody on phone(don't know whether she was assistant), so confirmed that the paper reached them. She told that they will forward it to Newyork city office. Here comes the missing link. I don't know how to get at Senator's assistant.

Is apart from required paper work posted on their website, is it a must to explain them personally?(I would love to do so).

Nice to know you got it achieved through senators and thanks for your post.

Raj,

I have mailed the details to relevant address mentioned in Senator's address for immigration issue.

My letter was in lines with yours except that I directly addressed it to Senator.

I will make a try to call tomorrow. They received my letter and details on 24th Februrary.

When you guys say Senator, are you talking about the Local senator or like State senator.

Can you please elaborate?

My RD is 10/01, I am also planning to contact someone?

prasad,

why dont you go and meet directly to senator assistant who look at immigration issues.? I personally feel that will help a lot.

Thanks,
raj

Hi! Raj!

Thanks for info. My only doubt is, they don't even entertain telephone calls.(Directly goes to voice mail saying that they will approach us after they get the reply from government department. Any you want to ask, write it through mail) How will they entertain us in person?

But still I feel it is worth a try.

I contacted IIO for my case I-485(filed on1st August 2001). She said the following comments:

Your application is in the adjudications unit and we should hear something very soon.

She could not quantify how soon?

Is it a bluff or does it say that my application is close to a decision?

If any body face similar situation, please provide your input.

Thought

The question is:

When they say adjudication what does it really mean, I was told my case was assigned to officer last month, then some user posted a thread which said his case for under review, So they all may be three different things or they may all be the same.

The silver lining is atleast it in dome different area.....

:(

Raj,

I got my case approved. My attorney received approval copies where I have not received.

Nobody contacted me from senator's office. But there is a fair chance it worked. Thanks.

But still my online status is not changed. When I talked to one IIO she told it is approved as on March 7th. But address was different against my name.

Now also, even though I am in NewYork, they ask me take the stamping on Connecticut!!

I am planning to go their and take it.

Best of luck for all who are waiting.
:)
