Desperate! Inquiring Information, please respond

Hello, I got a recommend for approval of my political asylum application last February 28, 2008. I have the authorization for employment. But since that day I don’t know anything about my case .They are doing the background check. My case doesn't appeared on line neither on the USICS phone line.I called the USCIS and send a letter to Nebrasca but they haven’t responded me anything.

I’m really worried because I don’t know how long this is going to take, I don't have social security, no job, no health, anything. :(

Please, tell me what to do, if some body knows how long that could take?:confused:

It took 18 months for my father to get his final approval while it might have taken longer for other folks in here.

How come is it that you didn't receive a social security card? :S You said you have "the authorization for employment" so how come is it that you don't have a job?

Monikemp, take your employment authorization card to the nearest Social Security office to apply for a SS card. You will be issued a restricted card within 2 weeks and when you get your final approval then they will change the restricted SS card to an unrestricted one.
About the status of your application you have to send a status inquiry to the office asylum handling your case.

By the way how long did it take for your to get your employment authorization document from the date you applied to the date you received the card?
 
call the Office of Refugee Resettlement, 202.401.9246, and ask for the local office (your city, state,...) to help you with health insurance, assitance, training,...
 
moni, ur wait is not long compared to that of my brother's.
my bro had asylum interview in dec 2007 and got recommended approval on march 2008 but since then there is nothing. He applied for EAD on May but got nothing yet.
He wrote letters to expidite FBI background name check to USCIS ombudsman, Congresswoman, local USCIS office and FBI but got no response what soever.
He wishes he went to canada instead cos this damn wait is so fraustating!
