Desi visa requirements?

So we are going (vi)desh now :-) I have to send three applications to Chicago and want to pay as little as possible. So I choose 6 mo visitor visa. Does anyone have experience sending application to Chicago by mail and get the visa? How is your experience? How good are they in sending out visas and how prompt is their service?

Please let me know. Thanks a lot in advance.

PS:- In general any Indian consulate experience is also OK. Thanks

I got my 1 year Visitor Visa in 3 business days via NY embassy. I enclosed $15 for overnight mail (Recommend this for you as its same fee for upto 4 passports).

Download that form, attach a MONEY ORDER/CERTIFIED CHECK, 2 fotos and send it with your old indian passport. Thats it.

PS: For your kids, PIO is THE BEST OPTION. You get full vasool for paisa in the 3rd trip and its valid for 15 years.
