I sent our passports, fee and photos for 6 mo visitor visa for three of us for our intending travel in December to desh.

Does anyone here know the efficiency stuff about desi consulate of chicago? How good are they and how fast can they send the stuff back to me? If it matters, my tickets are booked for Dec 28th (departure).

Thanks a lot in advance.

I got our passports back with indian visa stamped. These guys ask for two photos but the visa does NOT have any photo! What a wonderful way to give you visa and tell that you are allowed to go desh!

Will the India beaurocracy ever end? Why do they want to keep photos with themselves and not put one on the visa stamp? BTW the visa, except for the signature does not have any security stuff on it. IMO it can be very easily reproduced. I do not really understand why they want photos - that too two of them - when they do not put any on the visa stamp.

But the service has been quick. I sent them by priority mail and got them by same type of mail. Also BTW the stamp on this mail was not put thru any stamping process and bears no postal mark. Probably anyone can re-use it - $3.85.

Time to see some new tech goes into desh consulates and desh herself. For the last several months they are formulating the rules for dual citizenship? Do they need several months to do this? What sort of idiots are behind this work?

In fact I can easily relate to this. I used to work with a senior retired Indian govt guy way back in 90s. He was the most idiotic guy you can ever work with. Never moves from his seat and cannot even bend to pick his pen from the table penstand. He never approved any one's leave without much boohoo. We once did a huge strike and blanked the office for several days before he came down. Glad I never worked for him again and he left that office later.
