Des INS still accept phone call inquiry about the pending application status?

Hi,

I would like inquire my 485 status. But I am not sure whehter USCIS still take phone inquiry or only accept the inquiry in writing. If this is the case, how? Is it better to ask the help from lawyer or this can be easily done by myself?

The following advice will only be helpful if your case has been pending beyond the normal processing time:

You can definitely call USCIS at their toll-free number. But they will usually not be able to give you more information than you can get online. But if your case has been pending longer than the normal processing time, the people on the phone will initiate an inquiry with the service center while you are with them on the phone, and the service center will respond to you (usually in writing) within 30-60 days.

Your other option is to schedule an INFOPASS appointment. Check www.uscis.gov for instructions.

Custom Service phone number for TSC?

Thank you for your suggestions. Does any big guy know the Custom Service phone number for TSC? Is it same as the National Custom Service phone number? I call that number and they said they are not service centers.
