Derivative/claim citizenship through father's naturalization

Hello all, I did a lot of research regarding derivative citizenship and believed that I met the requirements but I want to know what the guru's in this community thinks that might give a little more assurance/confidence to proceed.
* My father (divorced) was naturalized in 1985 BEFORE I came here in the US
* I came here in the US as a LPR in 1988 when I was a minor (16 yrs old)
* I don't qualify under CCA of 2000 since I was already an adult at that time but hoping that the old law might still apply to me.One ofthe old law requires both parents to be citizen unless I can prove that my father had full custody of me ( I have proof)

Can I still claim citizenship through my father since I wasn't an LPR when he was naturalized but became one while I was still a minor.
I could apply through N400 process which is more expensive, biometrics, FBI name check, interview/civic test but want to avoid the extras if I can. If I met the requirements, I know I can apply for passport directly or N600.

Under the old law both parents had to be US citizens before your 18th birthday, but there were exceptions for death or divorce. You would qualify for derivative citizenship because you were living in the custody of one naturalized parent after the divorce (assuming the divorce or legal separation happened before you were 18). You wouldn't need to be an LPR at the time of his naturalization, you only need to be an LPR at some point between his naturalization and your 18th birthday.

Thank You. I just found a very similar thread couple of pages back. Looks like I'm good to go. I just need to gather some documents.
