Depts in USA

Hello Friends,

I am here in USA on H1 VISA for 5 years. Due to unavoidable circumstances I went to INDIA for two times this year to INDIA.

Now I have to go to INDIA to settle along with my family. I've $20K USD in depts. I am pretty sure it is difficult to pay back.

What are all the options I've got?. If I go to INDIA I am not sure whether I will come back to USA or not.

Need advice please. :confused:

$20 or $20.000 ?

A twenty, I would just take out of my wallet. If it is the second number, you have to ask yourself:

-- do you intend to ever return to the US. If you do don't, then defaulting on your debt would not harm you (but everyone else who is trying to take out credit in this country).
-- what will your income in india be like ?
-- I assume a lot of your debt is credit card related. You might want to think about consolidating all of it into one loan which usually bears better conditions than credit cards. This might allow you to at least remain current on the minimum payments.
-- if you intend to return to the US, don't default on your debts. It would seriously hamper your ability to get your foot back on the ground the next time you come back.

Still I am in a dilemma. Whether I can go or not.
I don't have a job in INDIA. Let me wait for a while till I pay of the depts.
Certainly I've to come back after 6 months.
