Hello there,
I am starting this thread for everyone who was unfortunate to have his/her citizenship application denied for whatever reason.

I think this could be a great idea for denied applicants to share their experiences and their legal situations. Moreover, denied applicants with appeal process could significanlty benefit those who are willing to appeal in the future.

Posting experiences could save time, money, and anxiety for those on the line! Do your best in helping others, and I pray to God that you would move your experience from this thread to a new success story thread. And to maximize this benefit from this thread, I added a poll for reasons of denials. You can participate if you got approved but hear about a friend's case that got denied.

As a starter, you probably can benefit from the following links, read them, but please, reply under this thread, so we can control more and benefit more :

For the sake of others, lets hope you were a singular unlucky case. Fortunately things turned around for you and now you're on your way to become a citizen. :)

Exactly vulpasin, for me , the jorney is almost over. But we should not be selfish, as long as I am almost done, then forget about the others, I established this usefull thread for people and others, and I know there are few of them, who got denied, or even worried about getting a denial.

Those folks can read, learn, and prepare for their appeal, letigation, to try to turn things around.

I hope you guys find this thread as usefull as i do!

Good luck to all :)

I have a question for you guys why does it take more than a year or so to deny a person? Why don't they deny you right on the spot? They are suppose to look at your application and see if there is any problem and let you know at the interview beside the name check of course!!

I think I am getting it........

I think I am going to get denied for not wanting to take full oath. She wanted me to get a letter that said that my religion requires me to not take arms and I had said that all religion says that, so I donot see any point here....

I think I killed my own chance................feeling terrible......I did not need to be honest and truthful......should have done what others do, take the full oath..they donot care for you to speak truth.

My officer never saw other documents or asked me history questions. and told me that I would hear from them in a month.

What's done is done!! Like many others I commend you for standing for what you believe but learning from your lesson one should not say or do anything before talking to the experts!! I wish you good luck!

Did you get denied after a year? or do you think that you are going to get denied? and why?

No I didn't get denied but reading the other postings and the one you posted it is a possibility to get denied. Who knows!! I was just wondering why the INS does not do it right on the spot. Many cases where people were waiting for more than a year not hearing any news just to find out they were denied. My name check has been pending since June 2004!!

Sony, thanks for starting this thread! I've read just about all of the threads involving your situation and can see that it's a preview of what I'm going to face.

Can anyone comment on how the hearing on your denial decision went? Is it only to confirm various facts that were already covered in the N400 interview in addition to a statement directly related to the reason that you were denied? Are the officers more agitated simply because you're appealing their decision? Will they try to intimidate?

I'm just looking for a heads up on people who have been there. Thanks!

Pupa,
I would like to hear more about your situation please. The hearing will be conducted through a different officer. They won't be agitated just for appealing the decision, most of the time that is.

Let me hear more about ur situation and hopefully i could be helpfull.
good luck
