Denied Because No More Dv Gc Available

Hello everyone,

Received NL for DV 2007 this past week.
AF 28xxx, I am from Morocco.

A lot of Moroccans apply to the DV, consequently every year an average of 6,000 moroccans receive a NL (for example 5,980 for DV2006)
I have a high rank # and I am worry that by the time my # gets called (I would say June July 2007), already 3,500 visas (the 7% max. by country) would be already allocated.

2 Questions:

1. HAS ANYONE EVER HEARD OF SOMEONE (from either Nigeria, Egypt, Ethiopia, Ukraine, Bangladesh) WHO WAS DENIED HIS GC, BECAUSE THE COUNTRY CAP WAS REACHED??

2. Has anyone ever heard of someone not getting a GC because their cut off was called too late to make the sept 30 deadline?

1) I do not think you would be granted an interview date if there are no more DV GCs available. ( for CP )
KCC and Consulates schedule interview and attribute a visa number.
I do not think you would get an interview: the cutoff number on the bulletin would simply remain the same.

2) of course it has already happened. Ever heard of delays in background check ? For some countries, it takes more time than for others ( like weeks or months instead of hours or days ).

Catseye is correct, if no visas are available you will not be called for interview, and they will restrict the bulletin progression.


well, so far to my knowledge, no country has crossed the limit of 3500, because rejection rate is also too high in those countries, even due to high visa application fees US$ 755, many cannot afford to attend the interview.

check this table. it will give you a clear idea...take the cases of Ukraine, Nigeria and Bangladesh, both them get winners of more than 5000 each year, but maximum visa receipents are not more than 3500
