Delhi consulate or Kolkata consulate

Hi,
My parents are going for visitors visa. Where should they go? My state falls in Kolkata jurisdiction. Is it required to go to Kolkata? I would
personally prefer Delhi. When I came to US with my husband in 1996, I went to Delhi and got my visa. Again in feb\'2001 I got my F1 visa from Delhi.

I will really appreciate your early response.

I read somewhere in another thread that you can choose the consulate you want to go. Is that true?
 
No it isn\'t !!!

Every state within India falls under the jurisdiction of either the Embassy in Delhi, or one of the Consulates. To apply in Delhi, you need to be a resident of one of the states that fall under Delhi - you can see the complete list on the Embassy/Consulate web-sites. If your state falls under Kolkatta consulate, then you "will" have to apply there only.

Is this new rule? Because I have got visa two times from Delhi even my state falls under Kolkata.

How come TTS service(http://www.ttsvisas.com) website doesnot have Kolakata for a web application for Visa interview, and they have required that you have to go through the TTS service.
 
got visitor visa at delhi embassy

hi,
Yesterday my parents got visitor visa at delhi embassy without any problem. There is no hard & fast rule about region. It depends on applicants convinience.
