Delay in GC processing pending name check!!!-what is better

Hello all,

My interview was approved on Aug 28 2007 and I filed in May 2007. Currently June 2007 applications are being processed :(

It is pending name check at this time. I have called the USCIS office and the agent mentioned that I can request for an update

I also know some members at the forum suggested InfoPass

Which one is better ? Does it help?

The immigration officer at the time on interview mentioned that I should not request for update as that will delay my application.

Feedback...please

Probably InfoPass is better, especially if the IO told you so. You can't expect much from their customer service phone number.

Incidentally, read this thread for information about name checks.

thanks for the link. It helped to see there are few people in my boat and it was troubling to see some of them have been waiting for almost two years.


I will try to get an info pass appointment. It seems that you can get a start on your name check date and that's about it. Some people have recommended suing in the forum if it takes too long because that quickly gets things going.

Let's see for now applying for I-765 and then start with the Info Pass appointment.

just got back from an Infopass yesterday. It was worth the 3 hours wait...

My case has been pending since Jan 2007 for background check and it cleared on 12/11/2007...now the next step
 
after the background check cleared..what is the usual wait to get the GC in the mail ? 2 months ?

My case is pending and I have setup Info Pass...hopefully it will give me some answers.

I was in the background check for a year. L.A. office.
IO told me 3 or 4 years wait is common...sigh
