My EAD expires Oct. 26th. It should have been Dec - Dec but last year they applied early and the EAD was stamped from Oct - Oct (loss of 3 months). Now the company is going to apply for extension this week. About 60days are left in my current EAD. Can one still work if the extension is not granted by Oct 26th ?

Techincally you cannot work on an expired EAD. It is imperative that you get the EAD renewed in time. The good news is that EADs are processed rather quickly these days and you should get yours within a month.
For all others, I think we should apply atleast 90 days before our current EAD expires.

Nope..you can't work if your EAD is "In Process" status and current one expired..Based on my Experience you should apply 4 months in advance..I applied 90 days in advance for my 3rd EAD card and believe me after 2 stupid queries I was almost out of my EAD status but luckily got it 1 day before it expires the current one.
The stupid query was to go to the local ACS center to get the Photo and Finger print, Which I had already done but because of some system error those information couldn't transmitted so they sent me RFE that too 2 times..
Their system is really horrible..
I have already lost about 6 months total in my 3 EAD cards..lets see for how many more cards I have to go through..

Never got into this situation. My second EAD is pending for the past 9 months and I got my Interim EAD before the first one expired. I see some attorneys saying that as long as I485 is pending and your EAD is "In Process" you can still work and you should be the primary applicant.

I thought a recent law has revoked or it is about to revoke such interim EAD card. What really concerns me is that I already missed 2 months in gap since my last EAD application. This is simply insane. I will attach a yellow sticker note to my application asking adjudicator to consider my renewal and issue it without gaps.
