hi canus

need your opinion

I landed in canada on pr on july 4th 2000 and returned to the US and have never been back since. I do have a bank card, SSN and driver licence though. Now since the 3/5 rule is active and after reading the message boards and calling cic i am able to return to canada. I have a few questions

How easy is it really to cross thru the nigara falls?Do they grill you? I mean if i was to return on march 2003 will they let me pass or will the detain me?

Also since then i go married so i have a wife in the US who is on an H4 visa but does not have canadian PR? Say i bring her to canada on a tourist visa can i apply for her PR while she still is in canada?

Or do you suggest i just reapply completely? What would you do?

thanks

I dont know much for this question .As per the posting in this site .u haven't complete 3 years time u can stay out side .But better talk to INS officer.Remember ur immigration visa says "not for travel" Better talk with INS officer.

WE went to canada on rainbow bridge . The INS officer asked us to show the passport. Since we are landing firstime ,there was no problem to go inside. For your case if u have PR card it will be easy, then u can go easily in side Canada.Otherwise u can apply for PR CARD and they will send u letter to pick up the PR Card .by showing that letter u can go inside.

If you intend to stay in canada , u can apply dependent VISA for your wife. With that visa she can accompy with u .But, she CANNOT WORK LEGALLY UNTIL HER PR IS APPROVED.
Now Coming back from canada to US. Please carry all I-797 approvals.
Also on safe side carry ur paystubs and employment verificatiobn letter.if you have Advance parole please carry with u.
Show these documents, if they ask you specficallyat POE .Otherwise dont take them out from ur bag/folder.We did the same. They didnot asked anything.

Or do you suggest i just reapply completely? What would you do?

thanks
