Gurus;
After reading multiple posts from numerous people who all are in the same boat as myself..I got little tempted to actually try to understand the coding as it goes with the LIN numbers.

LIN-022-77-xxxxx

I know that LIN means Lincoln Nebrasks
- But no sure what does numbers represent.

I really appreciate, if some one can share some thoughts on how this numbering is decoded by people...

Thanks much....out-side-US :confused:

out-sider-us....

first of all
it is
LIN-02-277-xxxxx and not LIN-022-77-xxxxx

LIN / SRC /EAC ... is the INS center ...

XX - is the fiscal year... (start in oct and ends in next sept... so the sept 03 the fiscal year 04 will start ...)

XXX - is the calander day in that fiscal year ( on which application was received) ... note it is calander days and not working days...

XXXXX is the serial number for that day....

Buddy read that as LIN-02-277-xxxxx Lin u know.. 02 is the fiscal year ...i.e u must have filed after 30th sep 2001 but before 1st oct 2002 and 277 is the INS working day for that period.

Hope the above answers your question.
