The amount of money that you need to have to support your family is determined by the size of your family.

#of Family Members ---------------------Funds Required(in Canadian $)
1 ------------------------------------------$9,897
2 ------------------------------------------$12,372
3 ------------------------------------------$15,387
4 ------------------------------------------$18,626
5 ------------------------------------------$20,821
6 ------------------------------------------$23,015
7 or more ----------------------------------$25,210

Take your recent bank statement from your US bank. The amount in you bank should be more than the above mentioned amount. This generally works but it really depends on the immigration officer.

You should also take some money with you as the funds from your US bank account may not be available to you immediately. A friend of mine had to wait for almost a month for the money to be transfered from his account in US to Canada.

I would recomend TC or Cashier's check. Sometimes they question statements. You can fly into US get new TCs and then land in Canada. Thats the safest way.

I am planning to land next week, just planning to stay Canada a couple days, can I use a statement from Royal Bank in the Caribbean as proof of funds.

I am not yet ready to transfer my funds to canada.

Thanks

Hi Jahmal,
Did you get your passport stamped already? If so, would you mind sharing your passport sent and received dates? I believe your file is in NYC too right?
Please let me know as I am waiting for my passports. Thanks.

I have not gotten the passport stamped as yet, I am planning on travelling to New York next Monday to get the visa and land in Toronto next day.
