guys,
I was looking for citation of how to count days for part 7 on the N400 - the number of days traveled out of the US. I know this topic has been beaten to death on this forum but would appreciate some clarification. eg. is travel between 7/2/2008 - 7/4/2008 considered 2 days or 1 day out?

Just do an excel spreadsheet with the dates and then subtract.
By the way, 7/2 to 7/4 is 2 days.
Always count the nights you spent out of the US.
So count either departure date or arrival date as a day out, not both.

It is clearly given with example in one of the official documents on the USCIS site (don't remember which one though) that any partial days spent in the US can be counted as a day in the US. So even if you left US at 1 AM on 7/2/2008 and reached back at 11 PM on 7/4/2008 that could still be counted as just 1 (one) day out of the US.

That's correct. "A guide to naturalization" on p. 24 says: "Generally, partial days spent in the United States count as whole days spent in the United States."

So I believe in the OP's example it is 1 day out of the U.S.
