Date stamp on I-94

I traveled to Toronto, Canada for my H1-B visa stamping on June 19 by road (crossed over from Niagara). I took my I797 and the attached I-94. At the US consulate, the H1-B VISA was stamped and my "old" white I-94 stapled to the passport was taken.

I re-entered the US on June 20 by road - the officer at the border checked my papers, asked a few questions and let me in. My questions and concerns:

1. I wasn't given a new I-94 (that after reading a few threads on this forum seems normal for road travel)
2. My passport was not stamped with arrival date.

So now I don't have any I-94 showing admission date stamp. Now that I am applying for my greencard, it seems I need to submit copies of my I-94 with the admission date stamp clearly visible. But all I have is the I-94 that comes with the I-797.

If anybody has any suggestions/experiences to share, it'll be highly appreciated. Can you please help.
