This is a question for those who already received their plastic card.

The card is supposed to contain a field stating the date when the holder's PR status began.

I wonder what that date is: I-485 approval date, passport stamping date or some other date?

Interesting, thanks a lot for the replies.

I just asked a colleague at work to show me his green card.

His I-485 was approved by TSC in April 2002, he got his passport stamped in Atlanta about two weeks later and got a GC in the mail in the middle of May.

His GC shows the date of his passport stamping in Atlanta as the date his PR status began. I wonder why.....

Your colleague should ask for a change on his card.
On some others cards, the date can also be the
priority date. Of course, it really does not matter
as long as the INS internal record is correct.

For the purpose of watiting for citizenship,
it is date of I-485 approval that counts.
