Hi,
My parents have an Appt for Visitor VISA on Aug 30th. But they plan to travel to the US only early next year (due to some personal commitments etc). So in the question in the forms regarding "date-of-travel", should I :
1. Give an imaginary date in Sep?
2. Give a date in March of next year (which is most probably when they will travel)

If I give Option #1, and if they are granted only a 6 months VISA (I am hoping for a 10 year), then I am stuck!
If I give Option #2, then will the VISA Officer, question as to why they are appearing for the interview so many months prior to their planned date of departure (I got the date only because I will be in India at that time and will be able to help them in the entire interview process)

Please advise,
Thanks,
Narayan

BE HONEST! that's the only advise I can give. If the travel date has changed, just tell your parents to change the interview at the embassy to a later date. Because it seems like unless it is a 10 year visa, you are in a lose-lose situation or if they go now, still give the correct date of travel and tell them to explain the situation and possibly simply ask the officer at the embassy to give them a visa for a longer period of time...

you really don't have to give an exact date, you can just say the exact date hasn't been fixed or write 'NOT YET SCHEDULED' in the allocated space
