I noticed that there is a difference of 20 days between the expiration of my wife's 2nd EAD card and the start date of 3rd card. She is employed at present.

Would it be possible to correct the this date discrepancy? If so, what is the procedure? Please advice.

The 2nd EAD expires in 3 weeks.

Please help...

I think it is better for her to take a 3 weeks break. This is complicated. I know this is a USCIS mistake but you need to be on the safe side when it
comes to working on EAD. You can try going to local service center to
get this fixed if they can do it. Not sure if they can.

The problem with sending the EAD back for correction to USCIS is that
you are sending it to USCIS. You may never see it again for long time.
And your wife must absolutely have an EAD to work.

You do not have enough time to file another EAD. She might be better off
taking unpaid leave or better yet the Employer can terminate her and
restart her again. If you file a second EAD stupid USCIS might just reject
it saying that you just were approved for one.

This is why I insist that my wife works on H1B. My H1B period has expired so
I have no alternative but to work on EAD. Although I do EAD for my wife I
just ask her to continue working on H1B. The problem with EAD is one mistake
from USCIS and you are just screwed.

But your attorney should have better suggestions. So please talk to him.

It is hard to correct at this point. You already got EAD card with start date and end date. This problem would have been solved if you had filed application six months before the current expiry date (I do not know whether you did it or not). UCSIS can give any date as a start date. To my knowledge, there is no rule or guidelines regarding the continuation of the old EAD date with new EAD date.
As desi_bartender suggested your wife may take a break during the gap period or ask the employer for unpaid leave. Working without EAD valid dates is illeagal.
Good luck!
