Friends,
My wife is in the 10 mth of her 1st yr residency. Her residency is scheduled to complete in June 2007, but her H visa period (6 yrs) end in Jan 2007. So she wouldn't be able to complete her Residency.

My GC is still in the Federal Labor stage with a priority date of Aug 2003. So the EAD based on my GC application is not likely to arrive in time to save her (only if both of us are very very lucky!!).

Is there any way out of this situation for my wife, so that she can complete her residency?
Can she file for her GC based on a Contract for employment for July 2007?

Please help me out....!!!!!

yes, you can ask for 1 year H1B extension

there is always 1 year grace period after 6 yrs completion
get in touch with Residency Program director and hospital director and senate
to recommend it.

Relax, relax. You have 2 years left to work on this. Shift out of panic mode.

I would assume that your LC comes through within the next year or so. After that you can get the EAD for her in 3 months.

There is something called a '7th year extension' for H1b. One is eligible for this extension if one has a valid immigration case pending for >1year. I don't know whether a derivative application like in the case of your wife will be sufficient.

If she can get a labor certification filed in her own name, she would definitely be eligible for the H1b extension.
