Damaged passport with valid dv visa

I have a DV immigrant visa and I have to use before end of next month.
Unfortunatily, my passport got damaged, a problem with the lamination page, it is readable, but I don't think I will be able to travel with it, last flight I had a comment at the check in that I need a new passport.

What can I do about it? I have the dv visa in my passport but I will get a new passport, will my visa be invalidated?
I have not traveled to the us yet

You can use a valid visa in an old passport when accompanying a new and valid passport.

Renew your passport. Make sure they do not damage the visa page.
