We went for passport stamping (I151). It was pretty smooth. We were out of there within 2 hours including waiting outside and inside. A few things:
1) Make sure you make appointments. We saw people standing in another queue wihtout appointments. They were waiting forever. It seemed that as long as there were people in appointment queue, they were not called. Even they were called, the officer simply told them to go back and make an appointment.
2) It is not necessary to go early because they didn't let us to into the queue until 15 min of due time. We were ahead of time for about 30 min. We ended up having to wait besides those guys in the queue for 30 min.
3) It was unclear if they needed seperate appointments. My wife and I had appointment separately. We presented to the guy and he told us to let the officer inside know that we were together. So we went in and told the officer we were together. She processed us together in the same window
4) make sure you watch the display for your token number carefully. We saw a guy being called many times (just 2 # before us). Somehow he managed to miss it. Later he was trying to get help. The lady told him it was his responsibility to watch for the number. They later reluctantly gave her another number without kicking him out (but I bet he had to wait for a while).
5) hearsay: DO NOT be late. I heard from a lady outside complaining about how they do business. The lady (who was helping her mother in law for GC issues) said that if you are late, you will not be allowed to get a token (tough luck!). Obviously they need time to process all the appointments. Let's say they have 30 people for 10:00am, and if you go ther at 10:30am AND they are still handing out tokens for those people, I guess you can get yours as well. But it's better to be a few minutes earlier to avoid any uncertainties.
6) don't expect VIP treatment or you will be disappoited.
Question:
Anyone knows how long it takes to get the plastic everyone has been dreaming for?
