I recently applied for green card for my parents. My mom's green card process is going well. Unfortunately, after two fingerprinting tries my dad's came out to be "illegible". USCIS wants my dad to get letter from law enforcement district offices in the US that he has "no criminal record".
"A separate letter is required from for each law enforcement district the applicant has resided in the US in the past five years".
Now, my dad has lived in South Carolina, Tennesse, Florida and California in the past 5 years.
- Does he need to get the letter from each district in those States?
- Some of them are asking him to show up which is really inconvenient and expensive too?
- Is their a standard letter that the police has for this purpose?
- Does he need to get it from the District/County or will the city police station suffice? The reason I ask is because some city police stations are more flexible. They dont need him to be present.
Thanks for your help!
