I am DV-07 winner and have been wondering how this rank number works. it looks more than 80,000 people have won the DV-07. does that mean the rank number runs from 0 to 80,000. I have never seen a case number more that 50000 in the monthly bulletines. please some one let me how this thing works

or to put it differently has any one won the DV with a rank number more that 50,000 and managed to secure the visa

It depends on your rank number. The cut-off means the first people they would call for the interview. For example, they call 5700 in africa. so people between 0 and 5700 in africa would have a interview in october and so on....

Hello. I'm a DV2006 winner so I haven't been following the news for DV2007. If there are a total of 80,000 winners, though, these winners are further divided into geographic regions, which are separately ranked. The case numbers are written as 2007AS000001, etc. which is the highest priority for Asia (AF is Africa, etc.). Since the numbers progress differently for the different regions, a higher number in one region can come up before a lower number in another region. For example, in 2006, AF6000 was higher priority than AS1700, because more DV visas are allotted to Africa than Asia.

It's rather unlikely that cases with priority ranks higher than 50,000 will obtain visas (it's possible but not probable). The available visas are usually exhausted before such ranks are given priority.

Good luck to all.

I think the Rank number start from 1 for each reagion, so the cutoff number never be the 50000, it should be the highest number which was selected form that region.
