Current time for Consular-Processing (CP)

Hi All,

Please tell me how much time CP takes currently? I have recently applied for 140 and I hope to get it cleared in a year. I want to know after I140 gets cleared, in how many months I will get interview call for CP?

I am still in a dilemma of CP Vs AoS (Adjustment of Status). I worked for 2 years in Europe before coming to US. Can I get my CP done there?

Someone, please give me more insight into CP vs AoS in the current circumstances.

Depending upon the consulate/country, 5 to7 months after I-140 approval.

Probably, no because you will be a TCN (third-country national). Not 100% sure though. Even if possoble to do so, it might be a better idea to do CP in the consulate in your home country because they understand local documents better.

Totally concur with jigesh that it is possible to do your CP in europe but will need a STRONG and VALID reason to have in europe and not in your country of birth.

I too strongly recommend doing in india as:
1. They will understand all your documents well
2. There is no specific benefit doing in europe vs india
3. Plus if at the time of your interiew in europe the consular office asks for some documents that can be gotten from india then you may get hosed.

I personally would recommend india than europe. Again take my word for it (whatever value that has) it will not be easy to convince to get an european consulate.

I agree with KD and also more thoughts.

Firstly,If there is any NAME CHECK problem,(which I don't wish to happen to anyone)then you'll have to wait for 3-4weeks time in Europe (as consulate will cancel your H1 and not grant I-555 stamp ),which can make life little messy depending on your europe visa/money status.

Secondly, if you have some vacation pending,you could make use of IV occasion to visit your family and friends!

Please tell me how long (currently) it takes to get CP done in Mumbai?

Still in dilemma regarding AoS Vs CP, even after reading different documents.

I will highly appreciate if someone, based on personal experiences, throws more light on this issue.

Answer: Time for I-140 approval (depends on your empl categroy and service center) + 6- 8 months from I-140 approval.

What is your employment category (EB1/ 2/ 3/ 4/ 5)?
What service center was I-140 filed under (CSC, TSC, NSC, VSC)
When was I-140 filed?
