Current Passport during interview

Hi,

I am going to apply for Citizenship this month (January 2009) but my passport is going to be expired in month or two!

Is it important to have a current passport during interview or just showing the old one is good enough? I have only one passport in all my life.

Regards,
Barnold

It is not necessary to have a valid, current non-expired passport for your interview. They merely would like to

a) Establish your current citizenship and identity
b) Proof that you were not outside the US enough to break your continuous residency.

However, if you have a consulate or embassy near you, and your country of origin will issue you a passport, I advise that you get a new one. That is, if they give you the old one back after invalidating it. Otherwise, stick with your expired passport(s) and you should have no problems.
