Curious...

Hi.

I'm new to this whole I-485 thing, well Immigration in general.

I am a member of a buddhist temple, the monks there are in the process of either extending I-94's or applying for a green card.

One of the monks applied for the I-485
On the USCIS website, his case status was updated on August 2006
-applied I-485 in May 2006
-Fingerprint in June 2006
-Interviewed March 2007
...and he's waiting.

Just a few questions:

  • Is an interview required? Something else, the monk was interviewed at the temple, he didn't go to the local office, is that weird or do they do that? Basically, is it valid?
  • Should I make him an Infopass Appointment to see if his case is okay and check to make sure nothing is holding it up?
  • Lastly, could the wait be due to the visa numbers not available until October 2007?
I'm apologize if my questions sound weird but I'm new to the immigration forms, process and it in general... I feel bad for the monks because no one is there to help them with this...

Any advice, suggestions or comments are greatly appreciated. :)

Thank you,
Manivone
