OK now that I am a citizen, I sent my application (with Natz certificate) for passport. Let us assume that I get it. All is well.

I always think negative first (do not ask me why). So let us see the other side of the coin. What if the passport application is lost in mail. I have a proof that I mailed it. How can I prove to anyone that I am a Citizen?

Now the second case. The passport application is received by NPIC and a passport was mailed. But it was lost. So I can contact NPIC and get some details or a duplicate passport.

My question is related to second paragraph. What if the application to NPIC never made it? I need to change the job, for example, and how can I show the proof to employer that I am a citizen? I no longer have my GC. How to tackle this situation? Thanks for reading and advice if any.

You can make a copy of the citizenship certificate.

Unfortunately I did not do that! Yes I plan to work ONLY FOR the Government jobs that require citizenship! Now what?

BTW the Immigration God has no role in Passport, methinks. Of course he will still help me if I want. But is Passport a part of immigration? If so, I am no more worried because of my ever helping Immgod :) LOL

Mr. Paranoid Citizen, If you have no copies of Natz Cert and your passport is lost, then be prepared to file another N400

hehe. just kidding... You can get a Certificate of Citizenship N600. I dont know if they issue duplicate Natz Cz's.

IMO, always have copies of any document that you think you may need in the future.

And Stop thinking negative. You passport will come thru and you can go to Desh!

:D ...I am assuming you have the receipt from the post office for mailing the application and naturalization certificate for U.S Passport. In the worst case, you can still get another U.S passport...it may just take them a little longer to verify your citizenship status without the actual certificate.

I would not worry about losing something in mail....u will receive it. I expedited mine and paid the extra fees to be shipped via courier with signature confirmation.
