Chat User : I am four months into the I 485 at CSC and got laid off. Please let me know, if I can still port my GC processing to another employer with similar job. Please advise.

Attorney Murthy : CSC is the only Service Center that seems to imply that you cannot port, though that violates the INS HQ rule as mentioned in various meetings that our attorneys attended where senior INS officials spoke about this issue.

I heard that too

Great question. I am trying to find a good lawyer that know about this issue in southern California but no luck. Please if anybody has any kind of info please share it with us. According to Attorney Murthy we have to wait for the final regulation from the INS HeadQuarter, but whent that would be is the question. I seems unfair that CSC is the only one that interprete the 180 day rule this way and other Service Centers are more liberal about it. What to do till the final rulling is the real question.

Hmmmm.

My lawyer recently processed a case with a change of employer
after 180 days. In that case the participant was called for
an interview and the INS person didn\'t even know about the 180
days. In the end, CSC approved it.

I\'m not sure they can just deny these cases, after all it may
be years before INS implements the rules.

Anyone on the board changed jobs after 180 days at CSC and
got their approval?
