Crossing Border to Work

I work for a US-based consultant firm and want to explore moving back to Canada and staying with this company. Is it possible to live in Canada and work for a US-based employer? Can this be done on a TN? A H1? Green Card? Do you need to maintain any address in the US? Any idea about the tax implications?

you have to be a canadian citizen to get a TN visa, so this is not an option.

H1 is likely the best option.

If you have US green card, and you commute between Canada-US boarder. The problems is that how do you justfy you are permanent resident of two countries. US will not have a problem with it, but Canadian immi. won\'t like it.

But, from another perspective, as long as you satisfy the Canadian "obligation of permanent residency" of the new law, (2 out of 5 years), I don\'t see why you have a problem with the Canadian PR.

This is a subtle case, it may only depend everybody\'s luck!

Who has the experiences?

I am a canadian citizen and working in the US on a TN currently. I only want to move back to Canada and travel to the US every week to work for my US employer. I do not intend on filing for a green card, and I plan only on having residency in Canada.
