hello.
i was arrsted for shoplifting 6 years ago and ao a cort pappers there is a stamp-"sealed", will this affect my natural. procces? and i also mention only 1 name that i preveisly used but forgat another one, which is the same name (maiden) but misspelled 1 letter. Should i bring it on during the interwiev to ask to add that name to aplication or it will delay my process.?thank you, guys.

I hope you did mention in your N400 that you were arrested and sent the relevant Court disposition along with your N400, when you filed. Well.. in that case, as per some immig attorneys, the adjudicating officers at the interview look for incidents such as yours (petty theft) in the statutory period of 5 years for Good Moral Character - to approve / deny. Since your incident happened 6 years ago, you most likely will not have a problem. But the officer may ask you about that incident or if there were no other pending charges or arrests. Be prepared to answer such questions.

In one of your posts you had mentioned that you attended classes for shoplifting. I do not know by that, if it means you had admitted guilt (or) if the classes were part of a diversion program and dismissal of case, thereafter. In any case, with regards to CIMT or GMC for CZ purposes, you should not have a problem, because of the time period.

If you have not retained an attorney for this purpose, you may want to take one to your CZ interview. If you have no such plans, atleast try to get a criminal report from your local Sheriff's office/Police Dept to take with you to interview. From this, they'll have proof that you do not have any other criminal record besides that petty theft.

Please post your interview date when you are notified and also your interview experience. My timeline is similar to yours.

yeas i attached dispos. papper from the court and also explanation notice about what happend. I had my fingerprints taken in July 12 and waiting for interview. Thank u.

Melany -

I remember reading your post somewhere that your interview is in Dec'05. Are you planning to take an immigration attorney with you to interview?

Even though you already sent the Court disp along with your application, it may be wise to take Certified copies (of Court disposition and arrest report) with you to interview. Can you pls tell me how you've been preparing to answer questions regarding moral character or CIMT at the time of interview? Any ideas? Please share, I'm in a similar situation in NJ. Thanks.
