due to some reasons i want to withdraw my 485 application and go back to the H1 visa. Does anyone know how this can be done?

You can always withdraw I485 before it is approved and if you have not completed 6 years on H1 then you should file for H1 renewal if it is not expired and you will be back on H1 status.But before withdrawing, just think twice and also make sure that you have H1 status valid.

If you are currently on H1, then its easy. Write a withdrwal letter for your I485 and keep working on your H1.
But if your H1 is already expired or you are on EAD, then its a different ball game. You'll have to travel outside and re-enter on a valid H1 to maintain the H1 status.
