I am currently on a CPT - full time (internship term) in a company but the company has not paid my salary yet and they have promised me to pay it soon. I have already submitted my work time sheet to them. I am just curious will i have any problem if they dont pay my salary soon.

It may take 1 to 2 weeks to process payroll for an hourly employee. If it is outside this time frame, speak to the DSO at your school.

Am little afraid that it would be blown into major proportions....the employer has promised me again to pay...what i am worried is that in case he doesn't end up paying...will it have any problem to my status as student?

Does he have any formal arrangement with your school? For example, did you find the job through the university's placement office or your department?

Lack of payment will not affect your status in your current situation (not the case under all OPT programs). I am, however, concerned about the legitimacy of an employer who is delinquent in his payroll obligations. Since it sounds like you are on a required component of your program, I think you have good reason to worry about receiving credit should your employer close his business (for bankruptcy for example) prior to you completing the term. If this is a possibility, go to speak with your department chairperson to determine the possible consequences of something like this occurring.
