By itself it would not as long as you are able to establish your
married status. Do your passports have the spouses' names
annotated in them. If not , you may need to have them
entered.

Getting my spouses name annotated on my passport and mine on hers can be done at the indian consulate in the usa right?
 
You are right. I just did last week. It will only few days. Visit the Indian Embassy site, you will get details. Thanks.
 
Yes, They will keep the passport. But WHile you are pllying , you are paying for fee + overnight shipping cost ; so if you need your passport in case of emergency; call them. They will send you right away.
