CP: Time required to enter US

Dear friends:
If assuming I get my immigrant visa using CP in India, I need to find out if I can stay for more than 1 year in India and then enter the US?
Is there a limit to the number of months or years I could stay in India and then return to the USA?
Any input would be valuable.

i believe the us gc visa issued during the time of interview is valid only for 6 months and hence you would have to enter US within 6 months.

Immigrant visa is valid for 6 months so you will have 6 months to enter, else you have to pay visa fees again and explain. Remember you do not have permanent resident status until after you enter
