CP Question

Hello All,

I filed for my I-485 last Feb'02 and completed my finger printing in May'02. I will be going to India in Sep'03. I was wondering if there is any way I could convert my AOS to CP at this point which would help me in getting my GC faster. Please share your thoughts

Hi,

In theory the change of route is possible. However looking at
the timeline the benefit you get may not be much if at all there
is any!

The process includes filing of I-824 and I think it is taking anything like 4 to 8 months( if not more ) to get this approved.

For some of the consulates, you can do AC140 with just the
filing copy of I-824. Check whether the consulate that applies
to you, accepts AC140.

All said and done, considering the fact that you have given your
FP nearly an year ago, the benefit in time may not be worth the
effort. Because even CP will take 6 to 8 months from the point
where you are.
