Hi all,
My case number is BMB2005…. and my priority date is 10/10/2003.
I have a few questions and your help will be much appreciated. For convenience I will split my questions into two separate threads. Here is my background, since December 1996 I lived in Singapore for 14 months, US for 5 and a half years and in Canada for 3 and half years now and only been to India twice (once for a few month and then for a few weeks)
1) It says on the site that ‘applicants who have been scheduled for interviews on and after December 1, 2005, will not need to return to the Consulate to collect their passports and visas. The passports and visas will be returned, promptly, by courier, to the address specified by the applicant.’ But in my case the address given is my lawyer’s office in the US. If my passport is sent to my lawyer’s office, I won’t be able to travel back to Canada from India or go to the states. What do I do in this case? Is window delivery still available?
2) Is there a way to know which priority dates are being called for the interview now so that I can get a rough idea as to when I may get a call if the priority date stays current?
3) Just wanted to confirm that we need to show up at the consulate at least 7 days prior to the interview date. I honestly didn’t know that this was the case but that is what I am reading now. Is this truly the case that you need to show up at least 10 to 7 days (business days? Or calendar days?) prior to the interview date? Do you need to have your medical ready by then as well?
4) Almost all the websites and an email form the Mumbai consulate to me state that passport needs to be valid for at least for 6 months from the date when visa is issued. Yet time to time I read it should be valid for 1 year at least. Is there any reason for that, did anyone have any issue with that before?
If you can even point me to any link etc which has the answers to my question I would appreciate that as well.
Thanks
Sudipta
