I came to US in H4 visa and changed to H1-B and applied for GC. My I-140 is being processed. In the mean time my company could not place me, so they didn\'t pay me. In order to maintain my status to legal in the US, I changed my status from H1-B to H4. My company also assured me that they won\'t disturb my GC. Also, my hubby too applied for GC but then he got layed off. So his GC-process is stopped. Now at this situation and market condition, I am confused whether to go for CP or apply for I-485.
I heard that when I apply for I-485 and get the work permit, I should be in my company\'s pay roll. Is it true ? I am not sure whether my company can place me. what do I do, CP or I-485 ?
