CP or AOS??

I am wondering....

When u do the CP u have to wait the interview and wait for your number to be current, right? and there is a chance that your number never becames current...
This is very stressfull, u go and see every day the Vissa Bulletin, go to every Forum and look for answers... is a madness....
But this method is very simple, and if our number is low and everything is ok theres is nothing to worry about... I have fiends that allready left my country and I still waiting the sencond bless letter, and there is some frineds too that has numbers that probably never became available such 4XXX ....


In the other side we have AOS, I see that is very tedious, have to get fingerprints, check with the FBI, get your certificates form your country, send money, get a number, etc, etc, and etc...
But you don't have to wait for your number to be available, right?
If this is correct, why the people with high numbers don't go to USA with a Tourist Visa and do the AOS in USA???

Please correct me if I am wrong...

I'm not sure 100%, but Tourist visa is a visitor visa, which means it is non-immigrant visa and as such it doesn't allow you to do adjustment of status.

People, who are doing AOS, also required to wait until their current numbers become available. USCIS does'n accept their documents earlier.

if you are in the first 50% you should do CP

When you are doing CP you can have the visa in the same day with the interview- thay are giving you the visa number if the interview is successful.
When you are doing AOS even the interview is succesful and you are approved they are sending you home to wait for security clearance ( checking your fingerprints in FBI data base ) which is taking at least 3 months but usually more. So doing AOS means a delay of at least 3 months in getting the visa number.
If your number becames current after January, let's say it becames current in June and you have your interview AOS in June ( the lottery is closing on 30 September ) it is very clear that you will have 99% chances not to get the security clearance done and that means no green card , nothing , even you had a successful interview , the fingerprints, the medical exam etc. It is happening every year.
So if your number is not current in the first three months of the lottery ( October, NOvember, December) you should do CP . You have bigger chances to get your green card.
