I would like to apply for a GC for both my parents. My parents will be coming for a 30-day visit next month to the US. They have a multi-year visa. My parents are expatriates and do not live in their country of citizenship, but they are retiring later this year-- so their permanent address is still in flux. The political situation of the country of their citizenship is deteriorating fairly rapidly and it is unclear what the situation will be like by the end of the year.
It is unclear to me which path (Adjustment of Status) or Consular Processing is the correct one here.
If we go down the AoS path, will my parents have to stay in the U.S. until the process is finished?
If CP, which country should I pick for question #22 (country of consular post)? (their native country or the country they are currently working in)
