CP Interview HELP/DILEMMA. Can I attend the interview without the Family ?

My family had moved to India and I'm working in Europe.
We are thinking of applying GC for me only and maintain it by travelling to the US a couple of times/year (Since we want to live primarily in India and since it will be difficult to maintain the GC for five years, even after applying for the ReEntry Permit for 2 yrs.).

Questions -:

1. Is it possible to attend the CP interview without the family ?

2. Will it be possible to apply for the Childrens' GC at a later
stage (5 years later) ? How long would that approx. take ?

3. Any other suggestions, please ?

Appreciate your help &
Thanks for your Replies

Its your choice to sponsor your dependents. You can always choose not to and apply for yourself only.

Minor children should get the GC pretty easily.

dependents

There is no problem if you don't sponsor your spouse and kids. However, you must take your marriage certificate and birth certificates of all kids to the consular interview. Remember that you will get a second chance to sponsor your wife only when you become a US citizen, and in the case of kids if they are unmarried and below 21 at the time of sponsoring. Further when you are out of the country for more than 6 months, the time clock for the 5 year stay prior to naturalization resets to 0.

Not necessarily. You can say in the DS230 that wife and kids will join you at a later date and when you are ready to move them here, they can follow-to-join.

Your PD should be current at the time of their interview and your kids should be unmarried under 21.

That should be OK. Your family can join at later stage. Moulin, are you an immigration attorney? If not you may like to practice that.. what do you say?

CP Interview DILEMMA due to children's schooling. Thanks for the replies.

Thanks for the replies.

CP Interview DILEMMA is due to children's schooling etc.

Since it will be difficult to maintain the GC, while staying in India, we are thinking of just applying for the GC for one person in the family.

Thanks again
