Arrrggghhhh!!!
My company changed name in jul 2001 from abc, inc to xyz, inc.
dec 2001 it formed two subsidiaries xyz GP and xyz LP.
and also these two subsidiaries formed xyz operating LP.
now in jan 2002 xyz, inc transferred all assets, employees to xyz operating LP.
whew!!
my lawyer is filing I140 amendment, first of all what is it? is there
a amendment for I140? is she just bull shitting?
another thing, what should i do with the packet 3 i have? shall keep it
and use it later?
help me out please!!!!!!

Since the ops comapny seems to pretty much what the company was earlier you may be able to get away without ammending your I140. Just get your company to mention the name change in your employment letter (something like "formerly known as") and any other company related documentation/press releases showing the name/structure changes. But I guess the safer option is to get an amended I140. Regarding pkt 3, was your case approved by NVC and did they assign a case number ? If so, if you have the above documentation you could give it a shot. Lot of people have had similar situations. But obviously it is your call.
