I completed CP in Islamabad on Jan. 16th with no problems. Here is the brief summary events.
- Sent Packet 3 to Islamabad on Sept 17th
- A few days later asked called them to followup and asked them to send packet 3.5 to my pakistan address
- Received Packet 3.5 in October. intentionally delayed next steps since I was planning to go to Pakistan in Dec.
- On Dec 29 went to Pakistan and got my medical done from karachi and mailed them completed packet 3.5 on Jan 2nd from Karachi with original passports , medical , and all other documentation.
- During the week of Jan 7th called them to tell them that I had to leave for US on Jan 20th and requested to setup an interview before then. They Asked me to come to the Embassy on Jan 15 during information hours and talk to a specific person.
- On Jan 15th showed up in Islamabad during information hours. They gave me the interview date next day ie Jan 16th and gave me the interview letter.
- On Jan 16th showed up at 8:00am. They intervied me at 2:00pm. The delay was caused because my packet 3.5 had still not gone through all the steps and was not showing up as received in there computer system. They had to look for it in. Just asked to sign part II of OF 230 and deposit the fee by the first person who was a pakistani (very helpful) and then the second person , an american lady was confused why i did not have an I-824 form. I told her that it is not needed in my case since CP was selected at I-140 stage. She asked for I-140 approval notice and made a copy of it and asked me to pay the visa issuance fee and pick up the papers in the afternoon. No other questions asked. I took a ton of paperwork with me just in case but was not asked for any other document other than waht is included in packet 3.5.
- Picked up the immigrant packet same day in the afternoon.
- Landed in US at Washington Dulles Airport on Jan 21st. Once again a very smooth process. Same deal..fingerprint and stamping of passport.
The US Embassy staff is very helpful specially the local Pakistani people. For Employment based immigrant cases u get to be treated as a specical case.
