I want to know if anyone had Consular processing for Immigrant visa at Mumbai in the recent days. Would appreciate if you guys could share your experience. thanks..
 
My parents' CP will done at Mumbai. Currently going through NVC processing. You can see my timeline in signature. Some other users with CP experience at Mumbai are "Yamini Patel", "peeyen", "learner29". You can check their posts and others in either 'consular processing' or 'family based' forums. What is your timeline?
 
I got my I 140 approved on oct 3rd 2006 and they mailed it to NVC on oct 11 th. I am under Eb2, India with PD of July 2002. there is a chance that eb2 India might retrogress or become unavailable in 4 months. so I am a little worried about going for Cp since I might get stuck a gain. thanks.

How did you know that the approval was mailed to NVC on oct 11th? I am in a similar situation like you. My I140 is being processed under PP. I am EB2. I have requested CP at mumbai. Lets keep in touch with other.
 
I have registered on line on the USCIS web site and it tells you the last status as "mailed to NVC on oct 11th"
 
Once the forms are at NVC and case is created, you can check status by calling NVC (603-334-0700) and provide your USCIS receipt number.
 
What receipt number?

My I140 got approved yesterday. What receipt/case number are you guys talking about? Is it I140 LIN#?
 
priority date

Very hopeful, what is your priority date. I am worried that if I take the CP route and if Eb2 India becomes unavailable soon, then I am going to be stuck. I am not sure if I should play it safe and file the I 485 since my PD is current and take advantage of EAD and AP.

My PD is 12/01. I dont think you are taking any risk. EB2 is unlikely to retrogress back past your PD in next 4 months. YOu will get your GC much much faster through CP. Infact 485 may be too risky for you. WHat if 485 takes a year and EB2 retrogresses and you are stuck without GC for years.

btw I am still confused about receipt number. WHat receipt number are talking about. Actually my I140 was approved on 10/13. How did you know your case was mailed to NVC? My 140 approval email says nothing about case being mailed to NVC. I am really confused. Please clarify.

After approval of I140 or I130 it can take few days to a couple of weeks for the case to be transferred to NVC and entered into their system.

You will find receipt # on your I140 receipt notice and approval notice from USCIS.
 
my PD

very hopeful, My PD is july 20 2002 and I will be current as of November 1st, 2006. Do you think it is going to stay current till I get my CP interview. I got a email from USCIS and then if you log on the site it also says the approved I 140 was mailed to NVC on oct 11th. hope this helps you. pls be in touch.

You got email from USCIS?? How soon after I140 approval did you get the email? I have not recieved any email from them. Only my lawyer got the email regarding I140 approval. hmmmm... DOnt know what to do?

I think CP is the best way to get out of this mess. PBEC is approving LCs at a rapid pace. But I dont see that many EB2. Mostly are EB3. SO I think you are safe. IN fact very safe. I do not anticipate EB2 to retrogress at all from the current dates. It may not progress but defintely not retrogress.
 
Why poor response?

Almost no one in my friend circle is going or has gone through CP recently due to fears of retrogression. Hence the poor response.
 
very hopeful, I called the NVC and they said that they will not pick up my file till nov 1st when my PD becomes current. what is your status now? since your PD is current they might pick up the file early. let me know.
 
I have no clue as to whether USCIS has mailed my approved I140 to NVC? How do I find out? USCIS did not send me any email? What is the number to NVC? My PD is current.

NVC tel # is 603 334 0700. talk to an officer and give them your rect#. they will tell you if they have the file or not.
 
very hopeful, do you know if your visa fee bill was generated. mine was generated on the oct 30th. pls be in touch.
 
USCIS mess up

USCIS has messed up my case and my lawyer is clueless what to do at this time. I had filed i1485 two years through NIW which was denied. Despite requesting CP they have started doing 485 for me based on my years old application. I am so frustrated.
 
very hopeful, you should file 824 to change it to CP and use attorney certified I 140 to get CP Interview. This might be even faster than waiting for the NVC. ask your lawyer or get a better lawyer.
