CP and PCC for US resident applicants (H1, H4 etc)

Myself and my wife have been in the US on H1 since past 3yrs. Is the PCC from the Indian Eambassy in US enough or there is some ambiguity regarding this requirement. Secondly how long is the PCC valid, I would like to apply parallely ASAP. I will doing CP through Chennai Consulate
 
Write to the Chennai Consulate for your answer

I had the same question and so I wrote to the Mumbai consulate (usembassy.state.gov/mumbai) and even got a prompt reply. They said that all I need is the PCC from the Indian Consulate here. Although it should be consistent, I\'d say your best bet is to write directly to the Chennai consulate and get answer from the horse\'s mouth.

Myself and wife were on H1\'s and got PCC from Washington.

Had a successful interview in Jan 2002...PCC was asked from both of us and the washington issued PCC worked
