CP and Marriage

I receieved my Packet 3 on 4/9/04. I'm not married not but I plan get married when I go to India for the CP interview(but before the interview date).

Is it ok if I inform the consulate at the time of interview that my personal situation is changed, so that they can add my spouce's name as follow-to- join ?

If the above is not possible I will have to delay sending Packet 3 to NVC until I get married .

Also, I just found out that my 140 was applied as EB3 though I have advanced degree. I was on my F1 visa and got my masters.
Would that cause any problem during the interview with my degree certificates ?

Thanks

My advise is for you to get married BEFORE you send the pkt 3. That was you will be able to include your wife as a dependant in pkt 3 without problem. If you get married after the gc interview and landing, it will be enormously complicated. I think you can also get your wife included in the petition before the interview, but in that case you are taking a chance that the consulate will accept the addition. In my case, I included my new born daughter in my petition without a problem by requesting my consulate (Montreal), but marriage is different and it could cause some complications.

Requesting other CPers for their inputs...

The masters degree should not create any problem.

There was an article on the marriage during CP on imminfo.com . But the site seems to be off line.

It clarified the scenarion at each stage of CP.

Thank you very much guys that was helpful info.
After sending packet3;

What kind of support affidavit do I need from my company? or just an notarized employment letter will suffice.

Can I take the employment letter now? Approximately three months from you now I will attend an interview at Chennai.

Thanks/

Going_CP:

You MUST carry an employment letter from your US employer. Ask your HR dept to get it notarized before they send it to you. The employment letter must be less than 6 months old.

You must also complete an I-134 (Affidavit of Support) for your wife. Some consulates seem to ask for this and other consulates do not. It is better to be safe and carry one. The I-134 has detailed instructions on how it is to be completed and notarized.
